Doodledark #2

Doodledark #2 is a visual exploration of what it feels like to have Asperger's Syndrome.

The painting is a deliberate representation of my internal world, a place that is rich, detailed, and often overwhelming. The canvas is filled, with no empty space. This density is a metaphor for a mind that is always "on"—constantly processing and absorbing an immense amount of sensory and intellectual information. The vibrant, high-contrast colors and the sharp, black outlines are not chaotic; they represent a mind that finds its unique kind of order in complexity.

At the center is a human face, which represents the Self. The eyes are a focal point, gazing out with a deep sense of contemplation or perhaps exhaustion. The Self is not separate from its surroundings; it's tangled in and almost consumed by the intricate network of forms. This symbolizes how our identity is inextricably linked to our thought processes and sensory experiences.

The surrounding forms are a mixture of organic and unsettling shapes—skulls, abstract creatures, and pulsating objects. These represent the anxieties, special interests, and obsessive thoughts that coexist within my mind. The beauty of the colors and the meticulous detail stand in stark contrast to the sometimes dark or alien nature of the subject matter. This visual tension is central to the Asperger's experience—a mind that can find profound beauty in patterns and details, while also grappling with an intense inner world that can feel alienating to others.

In "Doodledark #2," I invite you to step into my mind and see the world through my eyes. It is a world that is no less vibrant or less full than others, but a different kind of logic governs it.
